Recently, you might have heard about the recent changes to make Remittance Vouchers (RV) more user-friendly, including a new user guide. Today, we’re going to explain these changes to provide you with the information you need.

Are you a payee who receives a Remittance Voucher explaining the payments made from the WCMBP System by the DOL Office of Workers’ Compensation Programs (OWCP)? Then this is one post you don’t want to miss.

Remittance Vouchers (RV) User Guide

Included in the user guide is a breakdown of each section RVs need to contain:

  • Cover Page: This section includes the details of the payee, the Remittance Voucher number, and messages from the DOL
  • Summary: The Summary section contains a summary of payments (including Bills Summary and Financial Deductions)
  • Detail: This is where you will find the details of the bills associated with the payment.
  • Description of Codes: This final section contains the Adjustment Reason codes and Explanation of Benefit (EOB) codes description explaining the bill processing results and adjustments to the billed amounts.

CNSI & Medical Bill Processing for OWCP Programs

As the medical bill processing agent for OWCP programs, CNSI recently shared a helpful new user guide. It covers how to check bill status and retrieving remittance vouchers.

As we are focusing specifically on remittance vouchers in this post, let’s look more closely at the literature they include on this topic.

The new user reference guide is particularly useful for guidance about information to include in each section of your RVs. The guide includes examples, as well as additional notes to make the process that much simpler.

They also note that, throughout the guide, “the Remittance Voucher can also be called an Explanation of Benefits (EOB) or a Remittance Advice (RA). These terms and their abbreviations are often used interchangeably.”

Legacy Remittance Vouchers

The new user guide also covers Legacy Remittance Vouchers:

“The documents that the provider submitted in the legacy system, Conduent, or generated by the legacy system are referred to as legacy documents. The providers that were enrolled and in “active” status in the legacy system, Conduent, and migrated to the WCMBP System are referred to as legacy providers. Legacy Remittance Vouchers are the explanation of benefits documents of the legacy providers that migrated to the WCMBP System. These are for bills processed in the Conduent system prior to 4/27/2020.”

Throughout the document, you find detailed steps for retrieving these vouchers, as well as viewing payments and bill statuses.
